New Delhi, Jul 18 (UNI) The Department of Posts has launched a nationwide contest inviting citizens to design the first official mascot for India Post, with cash prizes of up to Rs 75,000 for winning entries, according to a statement from the Ministry of Communications on Saturday.
The India Post Mascot Design Contest, hosted on the MyGov platform, opened on July 15 and will accept entries until August 15. According to the Department, the initiative seeks to create a mascot that represents the postal service's values of trust, reliability, inclusivity, public service and digital innovation.
The contest is open to all Indian citizens, said the official announcement. Participants must submit an original mascot design along with a proposed name for the mascot and a brief concept note explaining the idea behind the design.
The Department has announced separate prize categories for mascot design and mascot naming. The top three mascot designs will receive cash awards of Rs75,000, Rs50,000 and Rs25,000, respectively. The best three mascot names will be awarded Rs25,000, Rs15,000 and Rs10,000. Winners in both categories will also receive certificates, and the two competitions will be judged independently.
Officials said the selected mascot will serve as the official brand ambassador of India Post and will be used across its promotional campaigns, philatelic products, public awareness drives, exhibitions, social media platforms and other official communication.
The Department has invited students, artists, designers and other creative professionals, as well as members of the public, to participate in the competition.
